2024 UBBA Summit & Plugfest Recap
11/11/2024We had a great time at the 2024 UBBA Summit & Plugfest in Kansas City, Missouri! Thank you to those who spoke with us and to everyone who helped put this event together.
Hosted by the Utilities Broadband Alliance (UBBA), UBBA 2024 gathered utilities and ecosystem partners from across North America to discuss hot topics surrounding the development and advancement of private broadband networks used in critical infrastructure industries across America. This marked the fourth year when UBBA combined a summit, Plugfest, and exhibition floor into one event, and it made for a busy three days!
The summit half of UBBA 2024 consisted of informative keynote speaker sessions facilitated by prominent figures from major technology and engineering companies like Cisco and Burns & McDonnell, as well as from tech cooperatives such as NRTC (National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative) and EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute). Some of our team members were able to attend forward-looking panels titled “Unleashing Hidden Potential and Energy Consumer-Centric Innovation,” “Securing the Grid: Cybersecurity Challenges and Strategies for Utility Critical Infrastructure Communications,” and “Next-Gen AMI – Information & Control Beyond Metering.”
On the Plugfest and exhibition side, companies were able to showcase their technology solutions in the Innovation Zone. We highlighted our ultra-fast 10G Ethernet switch, SCADA, and channel bank replacement solutions.
Visitors to our booth showed particular interest in our teleprotection-over-IP solutions, especially for use in last mile/edge applications. Some of them had struggled in the past to deploy successful solutions over IP using alternate technology, and wanted to learn more about our flexible and easily scalable products. Private LTE was another popular point of conversation among attendees; we spoke with several people who liked the fact that we build products that meet the requirements of private LTE networks.
Overall, we found that UBBA did a fantastic job attracting high-quality leads who were keen to discuss relevant topics and get a closer look at our telecommunications solutions. While attending technology conventions is always tiring, we enjoyed the educational and networking aspects of the event, and want to express our appreciation to everybody involved.
