What has TC Engineering been up to?

As an engineering company, TC Communications' engineering team is constantly working with our customers to understand the needs of the industry and improve products. Here is a sneak peek at some of the upcoming updates from the Engineering team.
"1+1 Hitless" on the JumboSwitch® platform
Hitless switching is a recovery feature used in critical applications that require zero-data-loss like for protective relays. This 1+1 Hitless feature is ideal for delay-sensitive applications because it duplicates packets, in both fiber directions, from source to destination. In the event of a device or cable failure, the JumboSwitch's "zero down-time" hitless recovery option maintains normal communication without losing a single data bit.
In a teleprotection application, 1+1 Hitless means that even a single network fault will result in no downtime. Rather than a system that fails and then goes through a recovery process (which results in a packet loss), the 1+1 Hitless Recovery feature ensures that packets are received continuously, meaning no packets lost from a network failure.
Even better, 1+1 Hitless is built into every TDM-based JumboSwitch interface card, so even the most basic JumboSwitch systems can benefit from this advanced feature. In SONET systems and other technologies, they talk about recovery times. 1+1 Hitless is there providing fault-free communications all of the time.

TCView® update now available
As the network management system for the JumboSwitch series, TCView offers multi-user support for network operations, a centralized database, and remote access via an IP network. Our TCView team has taken this time to review its core structure, work with customers and implement improvements to its usability and functionality.
TCView is still a windows-based network management software that enables users to set thresholds and monitor key parameters including transmit/receive power, power consumption, and chassis temperature through an easy-to-use interface.
A new series: JumboBank
Scheduled for release in January 2022, the JumboBank is a product series that combines our two favorite product lines. The product is based on the DS0 multiplexing and T1 backhaul functions of the Mini Channel Bank and the modularity and flexibility of the JumboSwitch.
The JumboBank product series was created as the need for channel banks evolved. In addition to many channel banks becoming obsolete, the way the industry uses T1 multiplexing functions has also changed. TC's engineering team saw a niche need and created a newly imagined take on the traditional channel bank.
First to be released in the series is the 1U chassis.
