TC Communications’ July Food Drive Proves Fruitful and Rewarding
08/09/2024Throughout the month of July, TC Communications hosted a company-wide food drive, and we’re happy to say that it was a hit! With participation from every department, the food drive yielded the following in food donations:
- 175+ cans of food (soup, pasta sauce, meats, fruits & veggies)
- 100+ jars of peanut butter
- 50+ boxes of cereal
- 60+ boxes of pasta
- 170+ granola bars
- 20 lb. of rice
All of these brand-new food items were donated to the Orange County Rescue Mission, a nonprofit organization based in Tustin, California which provides on-campus housing, basic needs, and comprehensive services for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity or homelessness.
Originally founded in Santa Ana, California in 1963—thanks to the stalwart efforts of Lewis Whitehead, an African American U.S. marine who was in charge of directing the mess hall at the Marine Corps Air Station, Tustin—the Orange County Rescue Mission has grown to offer a variety of “innovative programs designed to offer the greatest long-term benefit to individuals who take advantage of them.” TC Communications selected the Rescue Mission for the lasting impact its ministering programs have on our Orange County community members in need.
As a smaller company whose philanthropy can easily be dwarfed by enterprises of thousands of employees, we are reminded of the Rescue Mission’s humble beginnings operating out of a cramped office located above a Santa Ana shoe store, and how, in the end, size did not matter. What started as a scaled-down endeavor among a handful of selfless community members rippled into something greater that has changed the lives of tens of thousands over the course of six decades.
We are heartened by our employees’ enthusiastic participation and recognize how fortunate we are as a company and as individuals to be able to make a difference in others’ lives, no matter how modest. We look forward with excitement to more philanthropic events in the future and to finding new opportunities to give back to our communities.
