New Serial-over-T1/E1 Multiplexer Minimizes Latency & Lowers Connectivity Costs
01/27/2014It supports all popular serial connectivity applications including:
- Transporting asynchronous RS-232/RS-422/RS-485
- Transporting SCADA communications
- Protocol-transparent
- Supports SEL Mirrored Bits®* communications
- Connecting two Power Utility teleprotection relays
The TC8610 supports RS232, RS422 and RS485 (2- or 4-wire) interfaces up to data rates of 38.4 Kbps. RS232 interfaces support both synchronous mode or asynchronous with control signals (CTS/RTS).
The TC8610 gives network managers an immediate, low cost connectivity option according to Ben Huai, Engineering Mgr.
“The TC8610 is a big cost-saver because it multiplexes up to 4 circuits over existing T1/E1 links and doesn’t require any additional cabling or build-outs,” said Mr. Huai.
The TC8610 is compatible with standard 100Ω T1 for copper line lengths up to 6000ft and up to 2.5km for 75Ω / 120Ω E1. Each serial port features individually isolated ground to eliminate problems with varying ground potential.
Diagnostics are extensive and include a built-in sync mechanism that verifies both device and T1/E1 link operation. No other test equipment is required for link and device verification.
Additional diagnostics include DIP switches for Local & Remote Loopback and other application configuration switches. Each unit also provides multiple LEDs for Alarm, Power, Vcc, T1/E1 Status, and Tx & Rx LEDs for each channel.
Power redundancy is standard and optional high temperature versions (-20°C to 70°C) and extreme temperature versions (-40°C to 80°C) are also available.
