New Enhanced T1/E1 & Ethernet Multiplexer
02/01/2012The TC Communications popular Model TC8518 16-Channel T1/E1 & Ethernet Multiplexer is now available with additional FXS/FXO ports, analog and serial data channels. The additional interface options are in response to customer demand for a simple, low cost solution to combine T1/E1, Ethernet, Voice and Serial data in one box.
The new enhanced TC8518 offers a built-in expansion module that adds up to 8 additional T1, 4 E1, 8 Telephone, 4 Analog (2-4 wire) or 8 RS232/422/485 channels. The standard TC8518 version comes with 4, 8, 12 or 16 T1/E1 channels and 3 Ethernet ports (3-port switch with 100Mbps total bandwidth).
The TC8518’s additional interface options benefit users in at least three ways:
- Saves money by requiring fewer hardware devices
- Maximizes fiber usage by increasing bandwidth utilization
- Enables users to consolidate voice, data & Ethernet applications on one fiber
- Cell Tower backhaul
- Connecting T1/E1, Ethernet from ISP demarcation points to remote buildings
- Connecting tail circuits off SONET backbones, such as OC48 or OC192, via OC3 front end signal out from TC8518
- In military compounds, provide data and voice between bunkers
- Land connection between microwave links
TC8518 comes with optic and power redundancy as standard. Distances up to 100 km are supported and a one fiber, bi-directional WDM option to maximize bandwidth is optional. Diagnostics include LED indicators, dry contact alarms, and local and remote loopback. Statistics Monitoring is provided to keep a history of activity (optical, T1/E1, and Ethernet).
A high temperature version (-20°C to +70°C) and extreme temperature version (-40°C to +80°C) are optional. Fiber optic and power redundancy is standard. Fiber redundancy includes automatic switchover for maximum reliability; power supplies are hot swappable.
